Kamikaze

Often associated with high-octane shots and happy-hour specials, the kamikaze has a history that can be traced back to a bar on the American naval base in Yokosuka, Japan, during the late 1940s or early ’50s. Today, famed mixologist Hidetsugo Ueno of Bar High Five in Tokyo makes a less sweet version, using a higher ratio of lime juice to triple sec. Slideshow:  Vodka Cocktail Recipes

Makes 1 or 2

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka

  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice

  • 2 teaspoons Cointreau or other triple sec

  • Ice

Directions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, lime juice and Cointreau. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled, ice-filled rocks glass or 2 shot glasses.
